Best known for its powder white beaches, 5 star resorts and energetic nightlife Cancun is regularly voted one of the worlds top destinations.

Beaches and Nightlife

These are two of the main reasons why people come to Cancun. The beaches here are absolutely pristine. One of the most highly rated beaches here is Playa Delfines, this is a ‘must-visit’ beach, not only is it beautiful, as would be expected of a beach in Cancun, but it is also less crowded in comparison to some of the other beaches in the hotel zone.

Another wonderful spot is the ‘Playa Tortugas’. This is considered by the locals as ‘their’ beach. That makes it one of the most popular spots in region. The waters here are not as rough as they are in other parts of the Yucatan Peninsula. Here surfers can enjoy some good waves and merry makers can have fun in the numerous open air restaurants and bars around.

The nightlife in Cancun is absolutely ‘heart pumping’. There really isn’t an appropriate way to describe it. With world class night clubs such as the ever popular ‘Coco Bongo’ and a myriad of bars and restaurants, Cancun parties till the sun comes up. This is mostly due to the young party going population. The legal drinking age in Mexico is 18, which means you will often find very young, energetic party goers at any hour of the night in the clubs.

Sunbathing and partying aside, this little piece of paradise in the Yucatan Peninsula has more to offer her visitors than just white sands, turquoise sea and bars. Take some time out to visit cultural places like Chichen Itza and you will take home some wonderful memories, such as the impressive El Castillo, a temple of worship by the great Mayan civilization.

For a relaxing excursion you can head over to the Isla Mujeres, also known as the ‘Island of Women’. This is a very peaceful and quite destination about eight miles off the coast. Here you can enjoy watching see turtles in their natural environment or visit historic sites such as the ‘Hacienda Mundaca’; a large mansion once owned by a slave trader whom it was named after.

Home to the world’s second largest barrier reef, Cancun is an ideal place for scuba diving and snorkeling. The more adventurous may  be interested in exploring a cenote and even cave diving. You can try your hand at sea  fishing or a play a round of golf.

You can even swim with Whale Sharks!

But if you’re looking for something a tad tamer, Cancun is also  great for shopping.

Cancun has it all, from luxurious resorts and hotels, to pristine beaches and warm waters, and with plenty of culture and iconic Mayan sites within a few hours driving  you really do get the best of everything here.
